So I'm getting ready to paint the chrome mustache and I know this has been done by a few members on here. I can't find the topic where it's been brought up. I've never really looked at that area of the bumper up close so I don't know if those two pieces are part of the bumper or part of the grille. One thing is for sure, the grille had got to go and so does the chrome. Just want to get this all lined up before I give it to a shop to paint the mustache and the Stillen lip.

LBC is right..the whole bumper has to come off. But when I did it, I taped everything off. It took about 45 minutes to make sure I did it right. There is enought space between the grille and the bumper to slip tape in between. After you have it taped off, do the following:- Sand with 180 grit (you want to get as much of the shiny chrome off)- Sand with 220 grit (smooth it out)- Spray a coat of adhesive primer (I used Bulldog. Can be bought in Walmart)- Spray 2 coats of primer- Spray 2 coats of the paint- Spray 3 coats of Clear.

I have my own painting gun so I never use spray cans and I also mix my own clear / hardner. Just remember, to be patient and don't rush to put the next coat on. If you don't, you'll be sanding it off and starting all over again.

Good Luck!!

Yea the whole bumper has to come off. First take off the top 5 or 6 clips. Then the 1 bolt in each wheel well. The 5 clips on the bottom of the bumper holding the under splash guard to the bumper. Then the 3 screws on both sides holding the bottom of the bumper to the fender guard. Finally slowly pull the bumper off making sure to unclip the fog lights and a sensor attached to the bumper.

Didn't take the bumper off when I did mine originally. Just did a lot of careful masking....but mine was the first experiment and i think dangeris did a much nicer job. Besides mine got re-done when I had the whole grill color matched...
