well im getting ready to have my car painted. the prep work is pretty much done as the previous owner did the primer and i finnaly got all the dents out. the stock color is maroon, but im going with daytona blue. the door jams are still stock color. the body shop wants a fortune for the door jams. do they sell small spray paint cans for small areas. whats the best thing to do? any ideas?

Word of advise, use Real primer. Dont use that bull**** can stuff you buy at wal mart or whatever. Buy the primer sealer and spray it on with a gun. I primered my whole car with that except the front bumper which was primered with that can stuff from a while ago. And a year later, guess where all of the small dings and chipping paint is? You guessed it, that bumper. Do the jabs yourself also, you can just get the exterior portion done at the shop, and buy the same paint and do all the jabs/engine bay yourself.

totally agree w/ toahk....and it's probably best to ask what kind of primer the shop uses so you can use the same stuff, in case of compatability issues with the base coat and what not. Good primer is much thicker so you'll be able to sand wetsand with a lower chance of sanding through it.

toahk- im not saying you are wrong about the primer since iver never done anythign with it and never had any experience. but dont you think a lot of the front bumpers paint chips are from driving the car and from rocks and normal wear and tear.
