Use 1200+ degree spray paint or power coat it.

It'll start to peel off after 6 months or less... Depending on how hard you push the engine. That's with 2000 degree paint, all properly baked and everything.

It does do a decent job, but a jet hot coat is better.

It depends on how well you prep the surface. If you don't clean it very well or sandblast then the paint will easily start falling off in spots.

When I painted mine, the nooks and crannies that I couldn't easily get to with my wire wheel began flaking within a month. The broad areas that I did clean well haven't changed in over a year. I ended up buying a stock heat shield off of someone recently and painted it black. I like looking at it a lot more than the bare manifold, + my PCV line isn't cooking anymore.

As far as coatings go, Jet Hot is definitely where it's at but it's more expensive than paint and takes time, but you don't buy Jet Hot just for looks. Conversely high temp paint does nothing to retain heat either.

I heard powdercoat will burn off after 600*F. High Temp Engine paint or Ceramic Coating is what you would want.

I wire brushed mine real good, 2 light coats then 1 heavy coat with 30 minutes in-between. I did what the directions said and waited a week to do the 3 coats again for extra measure. I haven't had 1 chip and it's holding up great over a year!

sand blasted mine, cleaned, then painted. Lasted about 2 months before it started chipping off a bit =/

i decided i would just paint the heat sheild and put that on. since it wont chip as easy as the manifold will.
