I am going to be working on my car over the next few days to paint my taillights and headlights. I was wondering if anyone has painted the Headlights yet though. Bc by the lines of the headlights i know making a stencil will be more difficult to do than the tails. If anyone has done this or has a stencil that would be great. Thanks

I havent done this yet, but I was thinking about it. Just use some tracing paper and a straight edge. Or go get one of those clear report covers and draw your stencil on there.

I would use a light double sided tape. It is a bit thicker, so you wont haft to worry about paint squezing into the gaps. Plus you can cut it off and line it up with the exact shape of your stencil.

This may be worth a shot - use the double-sided tape and stick it to the headlight cover before you disassemble it, following the contour of the reflectors. Then disassemble it.

If you want to paint the outside of the housings, use this tape as your mask and paint. Peel off the backing on the tape and stick a paper mask to it if you want to. If you want to paint the inside, use this tape as a guide to locate the tape inside the cover. Then use that as your mask and paint.

Disclaimer: I have not done this yet either, but I would try this method if I decide to paint the headlights.

Thats a good idea and pretty much what I had in mind. Its ironic because i thought this would end up being alot cheaper but I don't think it will be anymore. LOL whatever, as long as it'll last, because iv'e heard to much about the overlays peeling over time.
