Muscle it back on, and if it gets too hot, you can just say it's a "custom melted plastic" look. :rotfl Way better than paint, IMO.

painted it myself. all it cost me was the Krylon spray praint and the 3m to tape the emblem back on. So less than $10.

Yeah I didnt really care about my engine bay looking nice, but when I went to HIN everybody there had something really nice done to theirs. It inspired me to mess around with mine. Ive got something else done that I havent taken a pic of. As far as the price, Ive got a buddy who hooks it up when I get other stuff done.

Thanks, as far as cost goes, paint was it. I used to live next to a good friend of mine from high school and he painted cars. He showed me how to paint, I bought a paint sprayer, small compressor, and even an air brush kit. I have also used paint from a can off the shelf and added an attachment for the top that gives you a little bit more control.

the engine cover is one of those things i took mine off makes my car look like a tuner talking to honda civic owner
"yeah i built the block it revs to 6k rpms and just stays there i dont need a power band" i then precede to race his stock si and beat him to 100 2.5 FTW, then my cvt said thats enough and he passed me cvt FTL

I know this is an old post but how did you guys go about painting the covers. Did you have to sand the cover first, then prime, then paint. I have the 3.5 engine cover and ive been looking to paint it for quite some time now.

You can find a lot of info using the search function but it's pretty simple. I used high heat paint from the auto store. Just take the cover off, clean it with some dawn dish soap, wet sand it til its smooth and basically no shine to it. Then give it a light first coat. Wait 5-10 min then give it a heavier second coat. I did 3-4 coats waiting 15-20 min in between. If they go on nice and smooth then put on a few coats of clear and let it dry before putting it back on.
