Me and my uncle are looking to paint our 84 mustang that we are building so we are playing around with a few pearl/color change powders that you add to clear coat. Neither of us are painters by profession so it is definietly going to be a trial and error sort of thing. We started off experimenting with painting my engine cover. First we spraypainted it black, then put "Silver Crystal Pearl" in the clear coat and sprayed it. It got very shiny and turn the color to more of a gray. This looked awesome, but we werent quite satisfied. So we added a little bit of "Gold-to-Green-to Blue Chameleon flake" to the already Silver Crystal Pearl, and this made an AWESOME effect. I still have to put the Nissan Emblem back on, but here are the pictures. You can see the gold and green flake pretty well in the first picture the blue not so well. What do you guys think about painting the 3.5L V6 letters? Leave them alone or paint them red to match the car?

Looks cool.

Judging by the sheer amount of cigarette butts in the background, did you use cigarette ash for the "powder coat?"

:P

if you can cleanly paint them to match the car i'd say go for it. that code red would look great on there even if the car wasn't red. if you do post some more picks please.
