Finally got around to doing it. I couldn't stand the bare metal showing on the caliper so I opted to paint it silver.

I was thinking about painting mine red so they match the tanabe springs. The only reason I won't paint it red is they stand out too much. Silver looks so much better with silver/gray cars, I may end up doing that color instead. Thanks for the pic!

On the contrary, I think red looks awesome

They don't stand out unless you're really close, and they add a nice accent!

What kind of paint do you buy to do this? How hard is the process?I know nothing about taking apart the tires/brakes/calipers. Any guidance to this would be great. I finish school in a few weeks and after that I want to wax my car, and hopefully paint the calipers red. I'll probably ask my brother to help, but I want to know if it is hard to do.What do I need to do for this?

P.S. williamk10 - the silver looks great!

I bought the Dupicolor kit from Canadian Tire for $25. Make sure to get the one with a brush as it is much easier than using the spray paint as that will reqiure the caliper coming off.

After you have the wheel off, clean the caliper with the cleaner that comes with the kit. Once cleaned and dry, paint away. Very easy, just make sure you mask the areas you don't want to accidently paint like the brake pad, clips, rotor etc. Let it dry (10 minutes in the hot sun) and apply a second coat. It'll dry to the touch in 10 more minutes, then put your wheel back on.

Read my mind. I also thought about doing silver. Mainly because I'd wanna paint the rear drums too and silver would look a lot better on those than red...

Are you going to do the drums as well? I think the front looks good but with the front painted in such bright color and the back isn't, it a little bit off I would say.

Hey! Ya my brother said that too. Is it safe to paint the drums? For now I might just leave them because in a couple of months the winter tires will have to go on, and most likely the painted calipers will get ruined. So when I put on my all season tires again next Spring, I'll repaint the calipers and maybe I'll paint the drums. With the red painted calipers it does make the drums look super dark.

Here are some pics from today, just washed her

That looks great. Once again I always love that your Versa looks brand new, always so clean!

I want to paint my calipars but I am just waiting till I get new wheels and tires so I can just do it all at once. If it is ok to paints the drums I will do that as well. I think it would look great!

Personally painting the drums red is too much, black or silver would be OK as it would not stick out so bad.

how many coats of paint and how long before it is dry? I am either going to go black on caliper and drum or red on caliper only.
