So I decided to take the rims off and paint the calipers red. After taking them off and cleaing them with degreaser I had to tape off the wheel wells and the fenders to prevent over spray. I even taped off Nissan on the calipers and painted them red but keeping the silver color of the Nissan logo. Makes it stand out! Love it! Let me know what you think. I'm posting pictures for you guys to see. My friend Drew had a 300zx prior to mine and he knows how to do all these cosmetic things correctly! Thanx Drew.

FINISHED!!!

Looks really nice. Now get some pics of them with the wheels on and everything. But that is an interesting way to get the Nissan to stay silver. Most people just paint the whole caliper, and then grind the "Nissan" down a little bit, making it silver again.

should have just taken them off to paint them... but it does look decent

make sure the paint doesn't peel/chip when you take the pins out to change the pads!

Nice job, I always thought removing the calipers and sanding the emblem was easier.

I did neither, I used a brush-on application. G2 is supposed to be one of the best paint systems for calipers, so thats what I went with. I just removed the calipers off the car for ease of cleaning/painting, this is what I ended up with

i did however go back over the Nissan emblems with some sandpaper just to get any impurities off of it

I have done the whole brush on thing before...they look like a 3 year old did them when you get done because you can see the brush strokes in the paint when they dry it looks lumpy. Spraying is the way to go. Do 1 coat of primer..let it dry..do one lite coat of paint...let it dry for an hr or so...do a second coat of paint..let it dry for an hr or more..and the third and final coat do a thick coat so it will bring out the shine in them! Make sure you let the calipers dry for at least a day before driving the car so they can cure. Lucky for me my Z isn't my daily driver so they can cure all they want!

oh yeah i forgot to mention..I did use a dremel tool with some metal polish to buff the rear Nissan logo because it's smooth and shiny...now the nissan logo looks chrome! sweetness! I'll take pics today of them with the rims on

You must have done it wrong or used a crappy application because my calipers turned out perfect and theres absolutely 0 brush strokes, its just as glossy as posted above......
