Been like that since I bought it, now I finally got some time to really do something about it. Is there anything I can pick up to paint over this? I was thinking just a can of spray paint, but I don't think it'd look right.

1) you can get a replacement used OEM bumper in the junkyard for cheap2) you can prep the bumper and repaint the whole thing (rattle can should be ok)3)i know kregan sell touch up paints for scratches, but i don't think it will give you the matching look

My suggestion would be repainting the bumper yourself, and at the sametime learning how to do body work

Rattle-can won't give it the matching gloss that the the rest of the body has, will it? I've seen a rattle-can paint job in person, and I'm looking at the tech article, and I'm really not sure how it'd look to have the whole bumper a different tone from the rest of the car.

Get a decent red bumper from a junkyard or from a forum classified. Less hassle and cheaper than a respray. Should match pretty closely.

Are you going to keep this car for a long time? Are you picky? If so, I'd take it off and have professional paint it. If you remove yourself, you can save some money. Otherwise, just use a small touch up paint from the dealership. You apply the paint several times and use some compound to make the surface smooth. I've seen a professional guy sprays just the portion and wet sands it. It's not perfect, but way better than touch up or rattle can job.
