I'm sure I could look through my paperwork and figure this one out myself but does anyone know the warranty Nissan provides for the paint job? I ask because I was cleaning my car today and notice some dry spots where it appears the clear coat is already thin or gone. One is a fairly large spot on the hood and the other is smaller on the drivers side front quarter panel. Not sure how I didn't notice these spots until today but they are definitely there. It's definitely not dirt or residue from wax. Very evident when you run your finger across the hood. Starts off very smooth "wet" feeling, then when you get to the spot it feels "dry". You can even hear a difference when you run your finger or a cloth over the dry spots vs. the wet if that makes sense. Oh if i only didn't love my car so much....

Spoke to my service guy today. Said I would have to bring it in to be "evaluated" but he can't do anything until after the holidays are over (which is b.s. but I'm not in a hurry since I'll be busy over the holidays too). Needless to say my hopes are not high but who knows maybe the dealer will step up and cover it without us having to go to war. Only thing I have going for me is that the dealer had to buff out some very minor scratches on my paint when i bought the car which were in similar locations to where the dry spots are now. I'm thinking a body shop guy got a little too aggressive with the polishing wheel. I'm going to be pissed if I have to come out of pocket to have my hood and quarter panel re-cleared on my brand new car. I'm taking it to an independent shop tomorrow just to get an unbiased opinion of what my have caused it and what it needs to get fixed.

I think I might have the same problem on my hood. I noticed a place just as you described yesterday but havent had a chance to fully check it out yet. Gonna wash the car this weekend and if it is a bad spot in the paint Im definitely calling the dealer since I just bought the car two months ago. Maybe its just a problem with black coupes

Good to know....yeah at first thought mine was a dirt spot or something but it is definitely an issue with the clear coat. Its hard to notice with the eye unless your looking for it but it is VERY obvious to the touch.
