I have a question and wanted to see if anyone knows the answer to it...My 2005 G35 Coupe is Red and has about 13,500 miles on it. I have about as many paint chips as well. Not necessarily only on the front of the hood and the bumper, but on the fenders, doors, rear of car...pretty much all over. It is very disheartening and my question is: Is this issue covered under the manufacturers warranty? There is no reason this cars paint should look this bad already. Even my side view mirrors are fading and I am disappointed to say the least. I met another G35 owner this evening and she has a blue one. She has NO paint chips anywhere after 16k miles and she had heard from a friend that the red paint they had issues with it being soft and I am not the only one dealing with this problem.

I would like to have my baby repainted by the dealer but don't know if this is something that would be covered or not. I am going to call the dealer about it but was hoping someone here had some insight into this matter and could advise.

Thanks guys...Claw

Probally not...paint is considered a wear item. However, they may have had issues with red as you mentioned, though I doubt they will re-paint your car.

Do some more digging...InfinitiTech, any info?

I am new to the forum and just saw your post. I have a laser red 2004 coupe and have many chips as well.

Did you ever find anything on this issue?

I have an '06 coupe.....blue....with 20k on it, and I have a ridiculous amount of chips......right down to the black primer.......so it may not only be the red

Do you have chips on the entire car, or are they primarily on the front fascia? I regret not putting the clear bra on mine...

New paints are generally not as tough as oil based paints that were used in the past. This is a problem with all new cars.

I would recommend a clear bra on at least the front bumper. I had one and the front end had no blemishes when I sold it. It was a black coupe too so any chips would have stood out.
