Hmm, I'm looking to get a paint job as well. I live in LA area so please, do tell. I was thinking along the lines of $1000-$1500 for a decent paint job that won't bubble and peel after a couple weeks (*cough Earl Scheib). Help some fellow members in need .

FYI: i have seen a $500 Earl Schieb paint job that was very nice. so do some research before casting your vote to hate that place.

I keep hearing about Earl Schieb, is it like a Maaco for the west coast or something? Those places do paint fine, but since you have to do your own prep work, if the paint turns fugly, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Yea, Earl Scheib looks really nice the first couple weeks its done, but then gets all nasty later on, especially during hot Socal summers. My brother had it done to his Mercedez a couple years back and it sucked. Lotsa air bubbles that chipped after 2 months. He got another paint job done at another place and it was much better. What do you mean you have to do your own prep work? You mean your supposed to sand everything down yourself first before going to them? Then what's the $500 for? The paint they use shouldn't cost them more than $50.

I don't know what their process is, but do they paint in a dustless room or just in a clean room ventilated room?

You dont HAVE to do your own prep work, but with places like Maaco, the paint job will suck for sure if you have someone that doesnt really care if it lasts, do the prep work for you.
