What's wrong with the original color?

If you are dong a full respray, are you going all the way and gutting the car down to the shell, removing fenders, doors, hood, hatch?

If you are asking how much paint you need, sounds like you are going to attempt this on your own. Sounds like a noble cause, but unless you have experience in body paint, I would dismantle the car and pay someone else to do the painting.

Body prep is crucial, so unless you are willing to go the distance, again, I would leave the painting to a pro. If you are a pro, my apologies, but your question tells me you aren't.

Full respray on a budget does not sound like it would end well.

Good luck.

Im not a pro, but i will have a couple friends who have done spraying before. I just need to know how much materials i need to buy to get the job done. I dont have a extra 4 grand to get it done, so we are all making a project out of it.

If they've done spraying before they should be able to tell you how much paint you'll need, shouldn't they?

Beyond that, where you are purchasing your paint from should be able to give you a good idea as well. If they give you a number that sounds inflated and you think they might be trying to sell you far more than you need contact another vendor and get a second estimate/opinion.

Be sure and post pics.

I have heard different amounts from everyone. I dont want to over spend on paint if i dont need too. Im posting this to get some more opinions. Some friends said 1 quart some said 2, and some vendors said 3. and thats a difference between 100-300. Trust me i love my car and wouldnt put in harms way. I like doing work myself and if i save money by doing so, thats a plus as well. Im getting friends who have a little experience to give me pointers. Plus im pretty good with this kinda stuff, and catch on quickly

I had a friend paint one of my cars as a side job (he's semi-pro). He had me purposely buy too much just in case we needed it. The autobody supply shop took the extra paint that wasn't used back since it was a 'non-custom' color (which they pretty much all are). Would this approach help with your paint dilemna?

to have a propper color change paintjob you can expect to pay $10k and up! lots of hacks will mask and paint jamps but only a good shop will pull the engine, interior and remove the bady parts and do ti right, unless you plan to do it right, please dont't do it
