I don't know if my results are atypical or what, but aircraft stripper has done a crappy job thus far removing the powdercoating from my valve cover. Initially it took some off with the engine enamel that was sprayed on top of it that I stripped off, but the remaining powdercoat doesn't want to really come off. The stripper softens it a bit where you can kinda shave a layer off the top, but not completely strip it to the bare surface like it's done when I stripped my whole body to bare metal.
I've heard brake cleaner works fairly well for powdercoating so I'm going to try that next, I'll let you know how it works out.
