My rear pads are dying on me and it will soon be changed. With the pad change Im also upgrading the lines so my calipers will be off obviously. So my question is... should I paint my rear calipers to match my red Z32 brakes in the front? or just leave it alone?

id paint the rear ones so they match the front, and it would also make it look better at the same time.

Do what you want to do. It will look better if you are going for the show look.

well unless you have z32 rear calipers... the majority of what you are painting in the rear is the pad backing plate

Well although the backing plate shows quite a bit thats not what im going to paint.. I mean yea its not going to have alot of red but still it sort of bothers me a little to see huge red calipers in the front and wimpy rusty rears in the back...

you could always do a rear z32 caliper swap... its not that hard with all the guides floating around the internet.... then you would have something to paint and show off

yeah but then you have to get new e-brake cables, and rotors and caliper and pads and a new ebrake cable and customize it IIRC or your ebrake wont work, notice how few people do the rears, that all seems like a bit much just to make his calipers matching red...Personaly I would just leave it but my car looks like crap....go ahead and paint it to match if you want cant be any worse then the kids who paint their rear drums to match...

One guy who was in my suspensions class had a civic hatch that looked from a distance to not be the typical rice mobile so I go over and am talking to him, and I noticed he painted his front caliper AND DISK (yes even the friction surface...)

I personally don't like those calipers painted... the 4 pot or 2 pot rears look fine...but sliding calipers (oem) look silly in my opinion.

I'm planning on doing the full z32 conversion, I know when I get new rotors, I am going to paint the disc as well. Some paint will get on the friction surface I know, but the point would be to ward off nasty rust. at least in my plan. Just paint your calipers black. Thats my advice, not matter what brakes you have. They just stay cleaner that way.

I don't think it looks bad at all unmatched (from your sig pic). I don't know, painted sliding calipers (besides flat black) kinda look ricey IMO.

BTW, don't paint your discs, if you mean the rotor hat than that's fine, but not the friction surface. Personally I'd paint rotor hats flat black and no other color... (not a big fan of colored rotor hats either).

Word. Unmatched calipers looks like you got drum brakes in the back. You got a clean look going on, keep them black and hidden. You dont need any bright red poppin out on that paint job.

PAINT FRONT ONES SAME AS REAR. FROM YOUR SIG, REAR LOOKS BETTER THAN RED; RED UNDER THE WHEEL SAYS, HEY I'M RIGHT HERE, AND I'M DIFFERENT THAN STOCK.

KEEP LOOKS STOCK BUT UPGRADE PERFORMANCE.
