My G has a godl pinstripe. It was a bad pinstripe to beging with....some runs and blobs. I bought this car anyways without causing any stink about it. It was an extra charge on the sticker for the pinstripe....along with some other worthless stuff.

Anyway, my pinstripe is washing off. Keep in mind I have under 8k miles on my car. I am getting an oil change and rotation tomorrow and see what they want to do about it. Infiniti will get their chance to live up to their reputation. Personally I would be happy without the pinstripe and just getting a refund on that part of the deal, but who knows.

I guess since it's washing off, it was painted on (as opposed to a vinyl stripe).

I'd ask to have it removed instead of redone. On several new cars I've purchased, I've debadged them (including vinyl pinstriping & dealer badges, etc) in the parking lot while waiting for the finance guy to finish his stuff.

(Including the black pinstripe on the 97 Pathy, AZ) :D

LOL - Well done.

My Dad once incurred a $250 bodyshop bill on a new (1984) Cadillac the same way. It had one of those chrome logos with the dealer name, right over the Caddy script on the trunk.

He takes out his penknife and pries it off, right in front of the sales / finance guy (it's in the showroom).

Only problem? It's got 2 pegs holding it on, it wasn't just a "stick-on". So he breaks it, and points it out to them - "What the F***? You guys DRILLED holes in a brand new Caddy for your God****ed LOGO???? Get that SH*T OFF MY CAR!!!!"

The logo said "Roach Cadillac, Kansas City."

LOL - Go, Dad. :D

3 stories.

When I brought my 94 Honda Accord, the first thing I told them before I signed the papers, I told them, “NO PINSTRIPE AND NO DEALER BADGE!” I made it to them very clear that I didn’t want them. They still managed to put the license plate frame with there name on it. No biggie.

When I went with my dad to buy the Q that I drive now, I’m glad I went. The Qs they had in the show room had pinstripes. I figured one day this car will be mine so I made it very clear to the salesman, NO PINSTRIPE! Thinking back in retrospect, I didn’t ask the salesperson to put in the CD player because my father didn’t listen to CDs. I wouldn’t mine having one now. NY radio suck and my armrest storage is filled with old cassettes that I never listen to in favor of some AM sports radio. The only time I listen to music is when I take a long trip and my wife brings her I pod and cassette adapter. It sounds great on the Bose. Better that the Harman Karden in her Bimmer.

The third story. We almost made the mistake to buy a PT Cruiser. My wife has been saying for years that she wants that car. When we drove the car, we were under whelmed. Good thing. The local Chrysler dealer has this decal shaped like an airplane because they’re located next to Teterboro Airport. Ugly. The one we were going to get already had the decal on it. We got the Bimmer instead.

There was a case in TX some decades ago that made it clear to dealers it was only with the purchaser's permission that such "badges" could be attached to the car. Thankfully, most Infiniti dealers limit it to the license plate trim.

In California, dealers do not apply logos to the cars - no matter what the manufacturer or model. I do not know if this is due to some law or common practice.

I wouldn't like my Q without the pinstriping. Of course, it's painted on, and really brings out the other colors in the Ivory Pearl Quartz....

Hitman,

Saw the reference to Roach Caddy in KC, You from there?

If so where, I grew up North of the River until 2 years ago.

Well, they told me they would touch it up. I asked if they could just take it off and they said sure. Guess I have to make up my mind now.
