so today i went to a quality paint shop to get prices on a gallon of paint and they said for just a dark blue gloss its going to be over $300 dollars just for a gallon! im painting the car myself so i know its not going to be perfect so i dont really think i need that high quality of paint...or is that not that expensive? they said they sell some paint up to $600 a gallon so idk. heres gallons of paint made by starfire for $40-$50 a gallon.http://www.paintforcars.com/ac....html

has anybody had experience with this type of cheaper paint or any paint below $100 a gallon. i just really dont feel like dropping $600 for all the primer, sealer, base coats and clearcoats.

If you want a good paint job you are lookin at over a grand. MAACO does paint work for like 400 starting though. But it's a big hit or miss sorta thing on quality.

Paint jobs are expensive. You get what you pay for quality wise. But that's assuming you know how to paint. You could easily make a $300 gallon of paint look worse than a $75 gallon of paint of you don't know what you're doing.

$300 isnt all that bad, the teal green paint for my S10 was almost 50 per pint, and thats shop cost w/o tax, AND it was 5 years ago or more

you could always see if SPI has extended their line of colors, they have great products at a great price, and the owner is helpfull beyond beleif. i used to do paintwork for a living and STILL wound up talking to Barry for 90+ minutes about better ways to do this and that

ask for Barry K, tell him lowrollerchevy from Hotrodders.com refered ya

I've got $10,000 in the body work and paint on my car. A little over $2000 of that was materials and that was at cost. I did however paint my car with a 3 stage paint which is much more expensive.

seeing as i rattle canned my car, i thought you'd know i was half kidding. Seriously though, when you see a really good paint job you noticed the difference in quality between a good job and the rest. my dad's one friend does the most amazing paint work period

I have a build thread zerothread?id=365563

It isn't finished yet but a short list of the body work, new quarter panel, swapped roof panels, fixed door, fixed fender, complete disassembly for paint, and blocked twice to remove any small dings or dents.

Quality paint will make a difference. However the preparation is what makes or breaks a paint job. If the car isn't straight then it will never look good no matter what kind of paint you put on it.

Well nobody would expect you to understand.

I mean you can't even form a proper coherent sentence.

Why would someone do that you ask?

A good paint job can make a stock car look leaps and bounds better.

Because with your logic, why buy tires for the car, tires cost about the same price as the car is worth.

Or better yet, why buy gas? Gas will total up to the cars worth in a couple months.

Cause My Car Doesn't Need A 10k OMG Jizzed In Mah Pants! Paint Job In Order To Run.

However It Does Need Tires, In Order To Keep Me Flying Off On/Off Ramps; Gas To Power It's Internal Combustion Engine Would Also Be Nice.

If You Wanna Spend That Much For A Paint Job, By All Means Please Do.

my uncle is painting my car, hes got alot of talent with that sorta thing. he airbrushes really well too.

he was like "we can paint it neon orange and airbrush barbed wire on this sides!" he was being sarcastic as hell but it was funny because he`d prolly do a good job.

but i want my car to be a forest green metallic sorta color, he`ll paint it if i pay for the paint.

no idea how much its gunna set me back.
