I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier with blue paint. The passenger side front fender is peeling the paint above the wheel. I googled this issue and noticed this to be a problem, but the posts are several years old 2005-8. Well, they haven't solved the problem.

I have gone on the Nissan North America website and entered a complaint. They issued me a case # and sent me to a local dealer for a diagnosis. I received and estimate of $391 to repair, but Nissan called me last week and said they would not pay to have it repair. I do not have extended warranty. They said that it is not covered under their standard undercoat paint warranty. Nevertheless, I thought it would be covered under goodwill assistance.

Has anyone had any recent experience with this? If so, what advice could you give me?

Thanks.

That's a pretty crappy situation, and sounds all too familiar with Nissan.

Did you buy the vehicle new in 2011-2013? Or did you purchase it off someone else? Has it ever been waxed?

I have the very same problem. My 2012 Nissan, bought new in March of 2012, blue with 26,000 miles has paint bubbling and peeling on the driver fender well. I took the truck back to the dealer I bought new from and they have taken a picture and sent it to Nissan. I have not heard back and it has now been about a month. I am going back to them next week as the problem is getting worse. I am NOT happy about this and I am hoping Nissan takes care of this. If they don't, I'll probably NEVER purchase Nissan again.

I have the exact same problem with my Pathfinder. It's an adhesion issue with the paint. Sadly a lot of automakers have had similar issues and most of them have never stood behind fixing it. I'm getting ready to get my fenders fixed on mine, but mine is an 05 so I'm not nearly as upset.

If Nissan is not willing to cover the cost of the repair, I would probably look at outsourcing the job. There's no sense in paying dealer prices for a service that doesn't offer a guarantee. We have heard of other issues that were obvious defects from Nissan that they have refused to address / correct (such as the melting dashes in the Alti Coupe). I wish you the best of luck but I wouldn't hold my breath on a resolution from them.
