Was surfing the web and came across these guys from MPG

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQgrWW8z-68

They are Brake Caliper Covers. They do not have them for the 08-09 coupes yet but maybe if enough of us where interested we can speed them up into making some!

The 350z costs $200 for a set of 4. Kinda expensive but eh, just getting opinions for now.

Let me know what you guys think.

i actually think thats a cool idea.. especially after the time i put into painting my calipers.. and the rear just started flaking off only about 4 months after having them on...

but $300 is pretty expensive.. maybe $150 or $200 max for the set of 4...

I painted mine red with the G2 kit. Looks great. I will take some pics when I get the new wheels on. Its pretty hard to really see them with the stock 16inchers. THe g2 is actually a paint/epoxy glue mix, so once you put it on it really sticks on there. ALmost like an entire new layer. In fact the paint is only good for 4-6 hours then it hardens up and is useless! I love it. Key is to be diligent in cleaning the wheels and just take your time painting them with the brush.

i think its a very good idea. however the price is ridiculous. we are talking about a piece of metal with 2 clips on the end. I wish I had invented these things. first off i wouldn't write MGP on them (company name) i would write the car...example mustang or GT for that mustang in the video.

Yah, they do offer some custom names on the covers as well. but i am not sure how much extra that costs.

Looks cheesy to me... Unless you have stick on fender vents and hood scoops to complete the package.

It's a nice idea but way to expensive. I'm going to stick with painting them.

Paint.

Not only do they look cheap and absurd, they could possibly cause issues with cooling and gas dissapation while braking, leading to decreased braking power.

If you want bigger calipers, buy a BBK.

Otherwise, use the G2 paint kit - it will last you forever. The duplicolor stuff is crap (I had it flake on me 2 times...I learned my lesson and got the G2).

G2 is great stuff. It is very easy to use and does not chip. Just use the entire can of brake cleaner they supply on all for calipers and then you are good to go. Paint all 4 calipers and then go back and repaint a 2nd coat in the order you originally painted them. You will have enough paint to do atleast 5 coats if you want but only 2 coasts are necessary. So if you have someone else who wants to paint their calipers you can split the costs.

unmount them and have them powder coated. anything else, other than buying bigger/better already painted units, is just fail.
