i'm about to have my s13 painted white, but I want some feedback about what to do with the A/B pillars & mirrors. Normally I'd paint them without question, but since S13 hatch's dont have C pillars, I think it'll look weird. Should I paint them or leave them black? I will be using a CF hood (pictured) and a CF Wangan spoiler. Neither will be colormatched. From the factory, the pillars and mirrors come black right? I'm not painting the roof/pillar black since the bodyshop will rape me on two-tone charges, otherwise I'd do it.

btw, I'm not done sanding it.

I think that given what you already have, i.e. carbon fiber hood and wing.... I'd say to get the trunk and roof painted black, leave the mirrors and pillars black, and the rest white... That would be the best/cleanest job. If you are worried about the body shop charging you a lot, I'd first ask them, then if it is out of the question think about doing it yourself... I wouldn't be too hard to do one or the other... often white paint is easy to paint and you might be able to do that yourself and have the shop do the black... or vice versa... I think that it would look out of place to have a black hood, mirrors, pillars, wing, and not have the trunk and roof black also.... but it is your car, do what pleases you as you will be the one that has to live with it... if anything, you can get the roof and trunk white as well and later if you think you can handle painting it black yourself, do it. I'd say out of my personal preference that if you wanted to eventually have the trunk and roof black to leave the mirrors and pillars black, but if you wanted to leave the roof and trunk white than to paint the mirrors white (not sure about the pillars... possibly paint them as well...)

Just my .02 I hope that everything works out for you!

hii'd like to say your car looks good. well will look good.

id say paint everything like how it was factory. whatever is unpainted leave unpainted like the mirrors. i think it looks cool with black mirrors. your car looks nice though. pretty nice wheel choice and its lowered pretty well. i think it just needs some side skirts and youre good to go.

good luck with the paint job though.

GO with the trunk black and everything else like it was stock plus the white paint of course....Question: Am I on acid or are your wheels Gold/Bronze on the passenger side and then some kind of blue on the driver side??

I would say black top and white everything else. Since that would cost too much I would just leave the A/B pillars the way they are and paint the mirrors.

thanks for the input.I think i'll paint the roof and not the mirrors/pillars.I have some sideskirts that'll get painted to, but I'm still looking for a lip (maybe a zenki)

Regarding the wheels, I bought 2 gold gram lights cheap thinking I could find a matching pair easy. After 3 months of searching, nobody had them in gold in 17" with an offset of 30 or lower. Mackin Industries said I could special order them from japan and wait 6-8 months. I said F-it and bought a gunmetal pair in the exact same size as the gold. I thought about painting the gunmetals, but I cant get myself to paint over brand new wheels.

Go Panda, or go home!

Meaning, carbon hood, carbon decklid / spoiler, and black top.

I vote for the panda scheme too, but a white roof w/ unpainted pillars and mirrors will look good too.
