Paint Chip Question

Somehow I got a chip in my paint on the engine hood. Small but smack dab in the middle.

My problem is I called all over the SF Bay area and no one has Red Alert Touch Up paint. Courtesy Parts dot com did not have it either. So I had to order it - dealer said it would probably be a week and that Nissan has it back ordered - they are out for some reason.

Should I be worried? The service guy said it would take a few months to rust just keep it dry. Anything I can do to stop the paint from peeling or making the chip larger?

Anyone have any Red Alert touch up paint they want to part with/sell? LOL

I've been finding dealers not carrying as much touch-up paint lately. I couldn't get a bottle of paint for my wife's 2 year old SUV, and it was silver, the most common color they made it in...

In any case, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's summer, and even in places like the NW it won't rust during the summer. By the time you get the touch-up paint in, you'll still be fine.

As far as keeping it from spreading... it would be pretty hard to get it to crack and flake. Just don't run into any other cars, and try not to catch any flying rocks in exactly the same spot.
