I have a 97 Q45 with the Dark Dark Green paint on it. My step dad didn't really take care of the paint when he was driving it and let bird crap sit on it for months on end. The crap ate away at the clear coat all of the way down through. I have heard about people have the clear coat sanded off and then reapplied. Is there any way to fix the actual blemishes in the paint after the clear coat is sanded off and before it is reapplied?

How much would a whole new quality paint job in black cost as opposed to having the clear coat sanded, blemishes repaired, and clear coat reapplied?

You dont want a new paint job... The Q paint job is HIGHEST quality, and you dont want it redone...

Take it to a dealership (anything high end, cadillac, lexus, BMW, etc) and ask them who they're scratch/detailer is....

Go to them and ask them for a quote to touch up everything...

Sounds good. Thanks a lot. I will probly go to my local Caddy dealership. They have extremely good service and prices as opposed to the Infiniti dealer I have been going to.

A good detailer can take out water spots, scratches, blemishes, etc. You would be amazed at the effectiveness of a wet sander.

Several shops here in the great frozen tundra specialize in clear coat damage repair. I agree, the Infiniti paint is the highest quality so you DO NOT need to paint over it, unless it is gone. Some shops apply more clear coat after cleaning the surface, and wet sand to a mirror finish. Several products are available that will cure "bird poops" in the paint job.
