Gents,

Opinions on how to handle the following, if anyone has a similar situation.

As we all the know, the paint on the G's sucks arse.

I've got about 1,400 miles on mine, and during my first handwash at about 1,100 miles and 2.5 weeks old, with microfiber towels, came across 2 scratches that are about 4 - 6 inches in length each on the passenger side, one of the front quarter panel, and one on the passenger door. Both are perfectly straight and go across the bend from the top of the panel (below the window) to the "flat part. To me, it's pretty clear they were there when I bought the car.

They are VERY difficult to see, but my fingernail does "catch" in them, so they appear to be past the clear coat. I'm pretty picky when comes to keeping my cars clean.

Question is - do I take it back to the dealer now to try to get resolution? Or do I let it go until lease turn in?

My concern is that at lease end they will try to ding me for a repair that is beyond "normal" wear and tear, even though it must have been there when I bought the car.

Thoughts? Experience?

Well, update. After posting the original message, I went to check out the car to see how the scratches looked now.

I had put some Zaino over the scratches a couple days ago, and now I literally can't find the scratches (did find a new small one though and promptly applied Zaino to that one).

So maybe, Zaino rocks, or the "self-repairing" paint that I always thought was BS marketing, is real, or a little of both.

Either way, would still be interested in feedback in case the original 2 scratches reappear on me.

If they are light scrathes than I wouldn't worry much. If it did not pass the clear coat you can fix it.

Zaino rocks. We all know that here at Nico. I think 60-70% of the G owners using it.

Between this car and my PF, I can't say enough times how bad Nissan paint SUCKS! It's like they used high end crayola's to paint these "luxury" sedans. Arggghhhh.

I thought the self healing paint was not available on the 2010?

I've never used Zaino before. I just checked out their website. Which Zaino product did you use? What do you recommend? Is their website the best place to buy their products? Thanks.

Here's your shopping list:

Dial dish-soap to strip wax
Z2 polish
Z6 use between coats of Z2
Z7 Car wash
Z18 clay bar
ZFX flash cure additive (use to make Z2 dry quicker)
A few applicators
White 100% cotton towels

Thanks. Was it the Z2 polish that you put on the scratch?
Also, why not use the Z7 car wash as a first step instead of Dial? I'd think the Zaino wash would prepare the paint better than Dial...

Should be Z-5 or Z-PC. Z-2 has no abrasives, so it won't remove any scratches. You should use Dawn to strip off any old wax before using Zaino. The Z-7 carwash is not formulated to strip the wax content on your paint.

I don't recommend Z-5 on new paint! If there's a scratch then only apply it to that area only...or use a good scratch remover.

Thanks...couldn't remember which "D" dish soap! I've used Dial with no problems though...

To the OP - is there any chance that what you were feeling had something to do with the protective plastic that's on the cars during shipping? Maybe you felt a little bit of adhesive or dirt that collected on the edge and the wax removed it?
