Hi Guys, This is my first post. Just got a 2007 G35 coupe with the driver sport seat. I'm not a huge guy but my right hip hurts when it sits against the lower bucket part of the seat. Any thoughts? When I asked the dealer he said no one ever had a problem with the seat.Otherwise I love the car.

Never heard anyone having pain. As far as I know, the coupe seats are supportive and comfortable. Maybe the seat is caved in on the right due to a Nascar driver being the first owner...

I know when I was looking at G coupes, only the 2004 model had a seat that was comphy to me!!! Well, the G37's were fine too, but was looking at G35's. (I'm 6' 215 pounds)Anyway, if it were me, I would go check out some others (same year and options) to see if perhaps there is a problem with the seat.

Welcome to Nico Lefty.

The 07 coupe has by design sport boltered seats. Although they are pretty adjustable thigh bolster is not. You may be able to provide yourself with some relief to you by purchasing some sort of cushion either for better lumbar and straighter posture. Or if the problem originates at your hip/leg area maybe a pillow or some sort of soft pad would assist you in finding the correct position.

I have the same problem in my wifes Acura. The boy racer sport seats kill my hip after anymore than half an hour of driving, and as the newest car in the house gets the most road trip use. I find myself using a wingbreaker on the seat bottom while driving and that allows me to find the correct angle to keep my legs and hip aligned properly. It's not pretty but it works.

Sorry dude... these tech guys won't be able to help you here...

You need help from a fellow big man!

BIG PEOPLE UNITE!

I understand how you are feelin' man because I've been in the same situation. You are a big guy in a world that is downsizing because that's apparently the new trend. You go into a store and can't even find a shirt in your size anymore! That's crazy! Hell I'm a beloved fan of Nico Club and they don't even have a T-Shirt in my size! But, like me, you refuse to conform to the slender, less rounded world... You do things big... in EVERY fashion!

You don't let these health-nuts slow you down! You grab that bull called life by the horns, look that son of a b***h in the eye and say: "Super size me!"

All the skinny people laugh because you're short for breath when climbing the stairs, but guess who's going to have the last laugh when it's the winter time and their woman needs someone warm to cuddle with?

Now, I'm assuming you bought that 07 coupe because when you saw it, it was love at first sight and when you are having comfort issues, you ask the techs at Inifinti what the heck is up and they tell you "We've never had a problem like this before"... Well that's simply because they just aren't ready for the type of man that you are!

But that's ok brother... Don't give up on your new found love!

You can buy some of the things these other guys have mentioned or you can break the seat in. For example, right after I bought my 06 coupe I was having the exact same problems. It actually was a pain that started in my legs and shot straight up into my back! But I went on short little drives and after a while the seat now curves to my body now.

Give it some time my man... it'll all work out...

Anyhow... Welcome to Nico!

I found this in another forum. This guy made his sport seats more comfy.I hope it helps You.

The problem is now solved! Today I found a simple and elegant solution. I took the car to a custom upholstery shop (I called several, to find one that has worked on seats in high end sports cars). While they have not worked on a G37 before, they have done similar modifications on other "Sport" seats (in Porsches) to provide more room. The same solution they have used on Porsches worked perfectly on the G37S.

The G37 Sport Seat has a rigid metal brace in each thigh bolster. It is a plate, about 1 in x 6 in, with a short supporting rod on each end. It is welded to the seat frame, and holds the thigh bolsters very rigidly at a nearly upright angle. If you push down and feel around in the thigh bolster, you can feel this metal brace just under the upholstery. The adjustable thigh bolster bladders also push against these braces, making for a very tight fit - it is rock hard.

The solution was simple: remove the braces. They removed the driver's seat, took the upholstery off the bottom, and just cut off the braces. Reassembled, the seat looks exactly stock. There is no way of telling that anything was done. But, sitting in it is just a world of difference! Instead of the thigh bolsters being rock hard and unyielding, the thigh bolsters are now resilient and pliable, and yield to the pressure of legs and a larger body on them. The driver's seat now behaves and feels like the bottoms of the non-Sport seats, or very similarly to the Sport passenger seat. The inflatable bolster bladders still work, but are just not as rock-hard, since they are now pushing against foam and upholstery instead of fixed steel.

Driving around today was a completely new experience. The seat is now actually completely comfortable, instead of just somethig to be tolerated in exchange for the rest of the benefits of the car. The back bolsters are unchanged, so one is still held in place "Sport" style, but without the confining pressure on the legs (I asked them to look into the back bolsters, but they cannot be played with because of the seat mounted side air bag).

For anyone who also feels the thigh bolsters are too confining, this is a simple and invisoble solution that completely cures the problem (I wouldn't be surprised if Infiniti might start doing this in the future, if they get enough complaints about the seats). If anyone is in the Philadelphia area, you might want to see Accurate Auto Tops and Upholstery, on Route 3 in Edgemont (near West Chester), ask for Mark.

Good Job Jeff!!! I LOVED the G37S sedan that we test drove but hated that driver's seat!!Now, knowing this, perhaps a G37S is possible for me.

I didn't actually remove the brace, but I did bent it out of the way and the difference is night and day, because that was my only complaint with the coupe seat, especially driver side.

Thanks for all the info. Hey RED_DET.Did you bend the side yourself. If you did, how did you do it. That sounds like my answer. Thanks for the help. Scott

I don't think that fix will work with '07+ sedan sport seats, those are adjustable thigh bolsters. I wanted the sport package but had to get a journey since the seats were hard as a rock in the sport.

Doesn't the '07 coupe have power seat controls mounted on the right cushion? I bet that's the problem. I had same issue with 03-06 sedans, otherwise I might have bought one.

Yes, just unclip the leather from the bottom seat pan. I would raise the completely up in order to do this with more ease. You will have to take the black trim off the bottom of the seat and take the seat controls off the side. The bar is underneath the foam. I bent it towards the passenger side and down.
