hey guys,

shopping around for an alarm to put in my 240 and ran across these paging alarm systems. They sound really neat cuz they page you when ur alarm goes off.

But before i get one i wanted to throw out a post to see if anybody has had any problems with these types of alarms and what is a good brand/product to buy.

any and all opinions are appreciated.

thanks

Oh alarms do stuff... they make a cool chirping noise and make your lights flash at the touch of a button!

Chirping alarms are worthless, alarms that also cut power to the fuel pump, injectors, or other vital engine parts are worth their weight in gold. Also, if you get an alarm system, remember to get the hatch or trunk so someone can't break in through that and crawl to the front of the car.

The paging alarm system would tell you whether the alarm went off both in a false alarm and a theft. If it's a theft, well, you're out of luck, but if it's a false alarm you can turn the alarm off before someone keys your car or deflates your tires, or decides that they need to turn it off for you. I've never been driven to this myself, but the incessent chirping of an alarm is extremely annoying...Also might keep someone from kicking your @ss when you get to your car after it's been beeping for an hour keeping the guy from sleeping...

New ungo's are good they have a picture of the car on the remote and it "pages" you also. I personally have a Clifford avant gaurd 4 and it does everything, it even has a built in turbo timer. Getting a hold of one and wiring it on the other hand is expensive. Just get an alpine, thats ur best bet.
