On the 2008 G35, I see that if I get the journey with the sport package,it includes sport seats ,and paddle shifters.I read somewhere, that the paddle shifters are mounted on the steering collum, and do not move with the steering wheel. Is that correct?

Welcome to Nicoclub!

Oldandslow huh... are you sure that the G35 is the one for you??? This car is definately young, refined and QUICK! I can see that since you own a bunch of Fords, then you might lean towards the old and slow category, but this is no Ford my friend. Be prepared to catch a little flack on this site for the "bunch of Fords" in your avatar. We welcome all kinds of car enthusiasts here, so we'll t.y.p.e.s.l.o.w.f.o.r.y.o.u.f.o.r.d.g.u.y.s

You are correct that the paddle shifters are mounted on the steering column on the G35. The journey and the sport package are two different packages. The journey does not come equipped with the paddle shifters, but you can install them yourself. I just installed mine last week on my Journey and absolutely love them. They are standard equipment on the Sport model (Obviously excluding the 6mt) along with the seat extensions and upgraded brakes and suspension. Other than that, they are essentially the same car. Here's a write up I did on the paddle shifters last week. Take a look at some of our other threads and enjoy! Be sure to search your topics and do a lot of research before you buy.

Welcome to the forum. Fords are welcome here. MAny of us have them, and one guy loves 1958 Fords more than life itself.

Don't mind ArizonaG35 too much. Sometimes they forget to lock the door to the day room nurse station and he sneaks in and posts.

Welcome.

Oh yeah, welcome to nico! I've driven a few cars with the paddle shifters. They were really cool at first, but I could see that the novelty would wear off some later. You can always add them later on like Arizona did. Probably cheaper that way too!

Yeah... I'm just the F.N.G for the Ford thing. It's all in good fun, although I can totally understand why he has a "Bunch" of Fords 'cause you never know which one is going to work from one day to the next and you MUSThave a backup!

Nurse Ratchett actually lets me out of my room for an hour each day... she's mean! I've grown fond of this big Indian fella, but he doesn't talk that much. I think he's going to snap someday... Time for MEDS!

Thanks Everybody, and Thanks Arizona G35,great writeup.I was concerned with the shifters being awkward to use in that they didnt move with the steering wheel, but their position and shape look like they would work great. You should never shift when turning anyway, ask me how I know!!!

MORE IMPORTANT TO ME with the sport package, is the seats with the extra thigh support.I am 6 ft., and most of it is legs, and the standard seats dont support my legs enough. The sport package Im talking about only comes on the journey, and according the infiniti usa website, only includes the sport seats and paddle shifters. If it came with more stuff, that would be great.

I love the kidding about fords, bring it on.Yes I have a mustang,in fact there have allways been at least two in the garage for years and years.Currently there is a 65 fastback, and an 06 GTWhen I bought the 06, I contemplated a IS350, or a G35 also, but I was having trouble selling an 03 cobra, and ford gave me tradin value towards the new 06. I made a mistake, and now want to sell the 06 and get a G35.The 06 has only 7,400 miles on it,so I should have no trouble selling it.My other fords04 f150 lightning(tow truck)73 Detomaso Pantera (road race, not street legal)63 Falcon Futura65 Must. Fastback

Listen, if you have an 06, you walk on water. These guys (except SVT, who will be along shortly) just haven't seen the light. We have a torch red 06 GT and love it. You can have the best of both worlds with the GT and the G.

Yeah, ArizonaG35 is okay. Can you believe his wife lets him do all that stuff to her car?

Thanks for the welcome,I like it here allready. When I contemplated between the 06 mustang,06 IS 350, and the 06 G 35,I chose the mustang because it was faster and cheaper, and I do like the nostalgic look of it. But now I dislike it. Here are some things I dont like about it.1.It has horrible throttle lag, because ford cant get the drive by wire right.I have tuned most of it out,but it is still there.Causes poor throttle response on corner exit.2.Vague steering.Has a dead spot at neutral steer3.Poor ride quality.Showing their roots dating back to the fairmont/granada4.Horrible handling. You can get them to handle better by stiffening them up so much that they dont move, but they allready have poor ride quality, and Who would want it.5.Low seats with high window sills, and tall console, make Me feel like Im sitting in a hole.6.No back seat. With Me driving,My seat back is touching the back seat.7.Poor back seat access, and no lights back there. When You want to get Your groceries in or out of the back seat, the seat release mechanism that allows You to slide the front seat forward for access, does not return the seat to driving position, and You have to readjust the front seat again. So why did I buy it?I liked the looks, acceleration, and sound.

But it looks like I can do better with the G351.Similar performance2.better handling3.better ride quality4.more backseat and 4 doors5.I like the way it looks
