Hello all, For those interested Tomorrow (6/11/08) I am heading to ASpec in So Cal to be one of the first 5AT G35 to get test fitted for an OEM stering wheel paddle shifter kit. ...yes that is right a paddle shifter kit for your OEM stering wheel. My understanding is that if my car setup goes smoothly tomorrow they should start selling them in two to three weeks. Kits are I think sell for $398 and come from a Japaneez company called Works Bell. Will let you know how the test fit goes tomorrow and how it works. If it works well I will give you ASpec's info.

Update (6/12/08)Hello everyone,The install went well that the paddle shifters works better than I ever expected. My only suggestion is to get your valve body upgraded so it will shift quicker, if you would like to see what they look like go to:

Anyways here is what the ad says below:

Utilization: Nissan 350Z (Z33)/ INFINITI (G35) 5AT cars

Steering wheel application: factory OEM steering wheel

Many Z33/G35 AT owners have expressed a desire to be able to shift via steering column paddles unfortunately no option existed, up until now. Much to the elation of many Z33/G35 owners, Works Bell has developed a special paddle shifter kit for the Z33/G35 that can be used with the factory steering wheel. The paddle shifter kit is well known by many Z33/G35 users because it can operate the AT sports shift mode without ever releasing the steering wheel. This kit was developed for those enthusiasts that want to combine the sporty feel of the factory steering wheel with an F1 style paddle shift feeling!

As I stated before the copmany that installed mine was "aspec" here is their web link and info, ask for Logan and tell him Jeremy sent you. They are selling them for $398.00

On the 2nd Gen Sedans and if I'm not mistaken the G37, you can purchase the factory paddle shifters from eBay or from a seller online and install them yourself. Heard it only took about an hour or so. The factory steering column has all the mounting points to install it and it works like factory.

Heres the DIY, I would highly questimate it's the same for the G37http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread?id=318082

Yes, but that kit is for 07+ sedans and G37's which come with paddle shifter options via the Sport package. The OP has a '04 sedan

Exactly my point the ebay kit is for an automatic G37's not 2003-2005 auotmaic G35 or 350Z's. This kit is great because you can use the OEM steering wheel as for what is involved according to the installer at aspec where I got it, it was a pretty easy install, you need to take apart the streering column and center shifter console and splice into two wires, install the paddles (allen wrench), drill a few holes and that is it. You can set the height and depth of the paddles so they dont hit your turn signal and wiper switches. You can use either paddles or the shifter once in manual mode.

I was interested concerning the application on the older G's. I personally have no real need since my G37s has them already

Well it has now been close to a month sense I have them installed. To answer "audtatious" question, yes they are a bit lower to avoid the turn and wind shild wiper controls then the stock G37 paddles, but you also have to remember these are after market paddle shifters that use the OEM streeling wheel. However, the paddles them selves can be lowered or raised to any position you want and are a little longer then the G37 so you can have your hands at the 3 and 9 position or even at 2 and 11 and still be able to shift with no problem.

Over all, yes I truely think they are worth the money. If you think about it most guys spend $400 to only add 5-10 hp, where this is an item that looks good, is functional, keeps the safety of the car and the convienence of the sterio and cruse control functions at your finger tips. Would I recommend them to 5AT G35 guys, hell yes. I plan on entering my car in the next car show here in So cal and I bet no one in the show will have them. Afterwards a lot will.

As I stated before the only upgrade I would recommend is a upgraded valve body, so the car will shift faster. As for my car I have a highly modified 5AT with JWT twin turbos, uograded transmission, upgraded torqe converter, and upgraded valve body able to withstand 750whp. Currently I am pushing over 500 to the back wheels, not bad for an auto. With the paddle shifter my shifting is smooth and very fast, no hesitation in shifting like stock.

Yeah, I'm sure Nissan probably adjusted the location of the stock stalks in the vehicles that come with them from the factory.

It's a good upgrade and I'd jump on it if I had an older G
