Padded dash?

My understanding is that 1.8 SLs receive padded armrests as well as a padded dash. Can anyone confirm the padded dash on their car? I'm not sure if this feature ever made it to production. My 1.8 SL that I just picked up doesn't have it.

The SL gets an armrest (padded). The S has center armrest whatsoever, and the other places where you would normally touch (door armrests, etc.) have more padding on the SL than on the S. Also, the SL uses flat woven cloth on the seats, which is far more durable than the S's seats..

There is no difference really between the dashes, but touch the door rests on an S vs an SL... I think that's probably what you were referring to.

My S has thick padding on the arm rests. Maybe mine was a fluke

I was able to confirm in person that early model SLs did have a padded dash (the section right above the glove box and the small section near the ignition). Much better quality than the hard plastic.
