Looking at a header for the DOHC KA...

I can get a Pacesetter for 1/2 the price of a Hotshot - Are there substantial differences in the two?

Facts only, please - No third-hand knowledge from "a friend of a friend".

Thanks much, guys!

Neither.

A tubular manifold with a space for a snail-like metal object to go.

I would never invest in anything made by pacesetter unless it was the one and ONLY choice. I've seen pacesetter headers crack a number of times, and heard more than one bad review of them from other people. Go with the hotshot, it's worth the money, especially now with the series II design that fits better.

I agree with Seva though, a nice turbo manifold would be a much better alternative :pface

Hotshot will work wonders on your vert Greg. And still look nice in a few months. The pacesetters are painted, and the paint boils/flakes off of them and they rust.

i have had both, and besides the appearance they seem to be relatively similar in performance. once i upgraded to hotshot, it wasnt like my car felt ungodly fast. the best product is hotshot, but the best value is pacesetter. (ill sell you my old one for cheap..)

I could, but here's the problem - I couldn't make them for much less than what Hotshots go for...

There's gotta be a margin of profit in order to pay for the development and new jig, and then you always have the nay-sayers who will say, "Well, why should I buy yours over an established name brand?"

It's a tough biz. :)

well, because you have "street cred" . i would expect a high level of quality based upon all the happy costomers customers of the BRM exausts.

If you made a header, at least you could count on all of us here on NICO who dont have headers yet to buy BRM.. (I know I would)

Hitman,if you were in Florida,I'd lend ya my header for a month as long as my car got the 1st prototype.Honestly though,if you made a header for the 91-94 240SX,I'd buy it in a heart beat.No questions asked.

Damn hijackers! :)

Greg Ive never seen any 240 with a header in person, but ya gotta remember that you get what you pay for.

Oh and why we are on the subject of headers, how bout one for the Max? When I junk mine, I might be able to take the intake manifold off and send it to ya. Just let me know what you need. Im not too sure if its worth the time though. Let me know if you're interested anyway.

From what i've read about header design, the pacesetters should be better due to the 4 to 1 collector. However I think this changes depending on the firing order of the cylinders.

If the pacesetters was thermally coated and had the o2 bung at the collector, I think it'd be a better choice over hotshot. I don't know what kind of thickness they use on their tubing/flange either.

BTW, what's the firing order in the 240?

comparison shot:
