Hello guys,

I really want to be able to listen to my Zune through the stock Bose stereo in my '06 G35 sedan. I've tried the various FM transmitters and they are sub-par, at best.

I've found this aux-in device, PAC AAI-NIS2, which I'm hoping can be installed on my G35. I'm posting my specs so that the experts on this forum can let me know if it's even possible.

2006 G35 four-door sedan No SAT button Handsfree blue tooth system 6-CD changer

I'v heard that the PAC device requires a SAT button, is this true? If so, couldn't I still select the aux-in device using the "mode" button on my steering-wheel?

If this device will absolutely not work on my car, I'd welcome suggestions! I've also looked at a FM modulator from futureshop that connects directly to the antenna input, but I'm less sure about having FS do the installation...

fyi, my knowledge and ability to handle cars does not go beyond starting the engine and driving the car, and occasionally topping the fluids.

Much thanks!

It would be very hard to mess up the FM inline modulator. Basically it requires one connection to ground, a connection to a power lead, unplugging your ant in which plugs into the modulator, and then a short ant lead between the modulator and your stereo (as long as the the lead is in fact standard).

Depending on the modulator it may also need a switch to turn it on/off and or a switch to select mode.

Should be able to buy one yourself for around 30 bucks. The last one I installed worked well for adding XM to a car without an aux input.

Thank you so much for the reply, pfarmer. Just to confirm, are you saying that my G35 does NOT have an aux-in since it does NOT have a SAT button? Therefore, I'm also limited to the FM modulator (connects to antenna input) from Futureshop?

Thanks again!

If you have satellite radio on an 06, when you hit the radio button, it will cycle not only through the AM and FM bands, but will also go to the satellite radio. But it will only do that if something is installed in the sat input. So you do have a Sat button, it's just not labeled Sat.

Indeed. The iPod adapter gets installed in the same manner.

One more question, somewhat related to the device.

I'm a noob when it comes to customizing the car, so I will let a local car audio shop do the install for me. One thing though is that I would like to be able to stay with the car while they do it, or at least be in visual range of it.

Do you think there's any point in doing this? Or will these shops always say no? I'm simply concerned that if they come across something that doesn't fit back correctly, then they'll just hide it or get rid of it...

Thanks!

Alright, went to my local car audio shop today get got a quote - $320 CAD installed...I guess that doesn't include tax though...

I'm a bit surprised, really, considering that Ebay sells the PAC device for ~100...that means I'm being charged ~$200 for the labour...

I must apologize if I seem to be asking dumb questions, but I'm a bit concerned. Realistically speaking, does this price sound fair?

The install is very easy if you are wanting to save some money. If you are interested in details let me know. I installed one in my 06 G35 sedan in 2 hours.

well, I paid about that for my iPod integration, I think you pay for the peace of mind knowing that it's going to be done right by someone that disassembles dashes all day long. I had mine fail on me, and they handled it all for me, contacted the manufacturer, got a replacement and did the second round of labor no charge. (I have the USA SPEC PA11 NIS, for reference)

i would argue that this might be high because all you get is audio in, no charging and no steering wheel control

but if you love music, it's pretty great to just fire up a playlist and let it go

i would definitely check the reputation of the installer, having work, any work done to your car is expensive, i would worry more about quality of work than getting ripped off. get some other quotes if you are so inclined.

P.S. Don't ask to watch, just inspect it carefully after they are done, but not in front of them. Kind of an insult, they're professionals, and deserve to be treated as such.

DO NOT PAY to get it installed! $200?!?! If you were in SoCal, I would offer to do it for like a meal at mcdonalds... I installed the PAC AAI NIS2 on my car and it took 30 mins tops. There's a DIY somewhere I'll try finding for you.

Johnparkyourcar, where in socal are you. i need to get this done. All the DIYs I can find are for 2004, or 2003 and the dash looks a little different to me. Is there a DIY anyone can find specifically for a 2006??
