I have a 2008 Rogue SL AWD, with just under 193k miles on it.

Recently, the "service engine soon" line came on, and since I was already scheduled for maintenance at the dealer they pulled the code, which was P2423 - HC Adsorption Catalyst Function. They were reprogramming the ECM per the recall, and so they did this and the light went away. The note they entered states that "if code returns catalytic converter will need to be replaced."

I drove it about a week without any problems, and then the SES light came back on, with what I am assuming is going to be the same code. Does anyone have any experience with this particular code/issue? If the catalytic converter needs to be replaced, my understanding is that there are two, and my hope is that this is the one under the car, which I believe is the much cheaper of the two parts?

In both instances, even with the light on the car's performance/driveability doesn't really seem to be affected. I enjoy the car and am hoping to extend its life without too much outlay. I appreciate any help or information that you can provide.

at that mileage, i'd drive it till the wheels fall off.
but legally i have to say: you should abide by local/state laws regarding emissions.
