My 2016 Rogue SV AWD is not 'shifting' right. It will take 10 to 15 seconds to shift from P to R and more time from R to D.
When taking off from a stop the car will shake and shudder make a lot of noise. After some looking around on the internet I found out what everyone else already knows, the dreaded CVT Judder. I found a TSB NTB15-084b that helps. There is a pending code P17F1. Maybe Nissan can repair or replace the CVT?!

P17F1 usually means a failed Valve Body and not a whole new transmission. If it changes to a P17F0 then you're probably into a new transmission, that's a "death code" meaning major belt slippage. Per the bulletin, the VB needs to be dropped and the belt and pulleys inspected with a borescope. If no damage is found, the VB gets replaced.

Thanks for the reply. With only 51,000k miles you would think it would last longer. transmission fluid was changed at 39,000 as per the Nissan dealer. I purchased the car in 2019 as a CPO with a 7 year/100,00 mile warranty.

The '16 and early '17 RE0F10 trannies had some VB issues, reportedly because of a materials change. There was never a recall or bulletin, but frankly we replaced a lot of them. If you keep up with maintenance then I doubt the new one will give you any problems. We've seen very few issues with the '18-up VB's after they revised them, and that's what will go into yours when they repair it.

I dropped my Rogue off at the local Nissan dealer on July 5th and today the service tech updated me on the problem. The mechanic actually could hear the whining noise at highway speeds and all the other problems I was having with the car. They said the CVT needs to be replaced and waiting for authorization from Nissan. I found NTB15-102b to be some help understanding this type of problem. Thanks for all your help.

Nissan cvt’s are a crapshoot. Back in the days, the 1st generation, cvt’s would implode way before 50k.

Or they can last way over 100k. I’m still on my original cvt after 13 yrs. I know another member here has over 300k on their first generation, I think this particular individual was near the end of the line on that Rogue.

It’s the luck of the draw and making sure you’re changing the transmission fluid on a strict routine to the point of ocd if you drive on a severe schedule like stop and go driving. :woot:

I just picked up the Rogue from the dealership, they replaced the CVT transmission with a 'reman' unit. The tech advised there was a lot of metal shavings in the pan- cause was internal failure. The best part is there was N/C. Maybe I got lucky this time.
