I'm new to the board and I need some advice. I've got a 2001 Maxima SE and my service engine light is on. I had a scan done and the error is aP1706 PNP Switch. I've got a manual transmission. Is it easy to replace the PNP switch? I can do some things, but I know my limits! Thanks for the help.

I've never replaced one myself, but it doesn't seem like it'd be particularly difficult. You just have to make sure you have the shifter in the right position when you put the new one on. It's located near the shift linkage on the transmission housing.

More info on it can be found starting on page 102 here and 599 here.

Thanks for the links on that. I think I'll give it a try. Much appreciated
