That code relates to the evap canister purge control valve fault. There is restriction in the purge line or a faulty valve. The evap system can be a PITA to root out all the issues all parts are related. You need to check the components and eliminate the good operating parts.

I have a 1998 I-30 and got several codes relating to this evap system fault. What I found was that the charcoal canister internal membrane ruptured (crappy design and membrane deteriorates with age) and the charcoal particles migrated out into the purge lines and clog things up. Some of the charcoal got in to the evap canister control solenoid valve on the engine. I could not remove the charcoal and replaced the valve with a working used one. The charcoal canisters are not repairable and mechanic shops will want you to replace it ( However I did find a way to fix the canister and stop the codes- PM me if interested).

Here are some videos to do the part checking if you are a DIY'er, very helpful, I used them to check out my system and fixed it

Rock Auto has the parts at good prices.

@zul8tr thanks for replying.

the nissan part for evap canister purge control solenoid valve seems to be: 14956-31U1A

FSM found from this website http://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual? ... 998_I30/ec

looked at P0443 video and looked at my car. i see atleast 3 such parts around here. one has harness ending with red plug, another one with black and one with green. from the video it appears like its the black one in the middle. standing at the front, the black one is right behind the red one. pl see attached pic https://youtu.be/-Zf5PC68cWU

1. is the one that is pointed by dark blue arrow the part to be replaced? could someone confirm?

am planning on replacing the part. i can attempt some minor stuff but nothing major.
don't know or have the tools to diagnose voltages etc.

2. the tubes attached to them seems to be quite tight. how do you loosen them without ripping them apart?

thank you.

You have to check for loose charcoal in the system from a possible failed charcoal canister before you replace expensive parts that is the issue I had). There are several parts to the system and even though the code is for one of them that is not conclusive. You need to do the testing in the video as well as check for loose charcoal in the purge line from the canister to the engine.
