I just got a "service engine soon" light and this is the code that came up. I am not even sure where this part is, if anyone has any experience with this problem and can give me some tips it would be greatly appreciated, cant seem to find any info on the web, other than the part itself and some vague descriptions.

I have a 1999 4.1 Q with about 84K miles on it.

Thanks!

Dave

Welcome to NICO, Dave.

I am sorry, but we can't do that, Dave. Ooops! Wrong movie.

Start with your gas cap. Does it whoosh with air coming out when you fill it?

Thanks max! Open the pod bay doors ha.... oh never mind.

Yes, it does whoosh. I had the service light come on once before, and it was just the cap, so when the light came on again about a month ago (2 years since the cap incident), i just got a new gas cap and reset without having the code pulled. (i know, dumb). Anyway, now the light came on again today, and i actually checked the code, p1492.

Anyways, yeah, it whooshes, pretty much whenever i open it. It is hotter than hell where I am (phx az), highs 112+ recently, if that would make a diff.

Just to chip in,

I get that "whoosh" everytime I open my gas tank AFTER a full tank gas and usually when the gas is low enough for the light to come on. I live in glendale aroun 90-100 here right now but have noticed it during winter times too.

Good luck.

Well, be sure to complete your profile (model, model year, and location).

Looks like you'll have to start the diagnostic procedure in the FSM for the evaporative cannister.

Common failure on 97 and later Nissans across all models when they moved solenoids to rear [dirty area] from engine bay.
