The FSM doesnt have this specific code in it but give me a little more info. What exactly does the code read when you scan it? There are two Evap canister valves. One is Evap canister purge control valve, its a little black circular thing with 2 big vacuum lines running off of it, and one small one on the top. Its near your throttle body, you cant miss it. The other is Evap canister purge control solenoid valve, its underneath the runners of the intake manifold. (if its this i have a perfectly functional one that i just took off my car if you want it..)

It sounds like it would be the first one though, the canister purge control valve. To test it, all you gotta do is blow air in each one of the 3 ports. Use your lungs to do this, not an airchuck. If it leaks at all, replace it.

If it doesnt leak well, i feel bad for you because you probably have to take off the intake manifold, im not sure if you can take off that solenoid with it on.(if you can, its STILL a pita im sure)

Done and done, hope this helps.

i didnt scan it, autozone did and the P1448 is just the code it threw "manufacture emmissions error' or something like that is what it said. I just looked up the code and the evap is what it said it was. This is my first car with an evap lol my last one didnt.

ill test the purge control valve tomorrow, so i just blow air into it and if i feel any air coming out thats it? i really hope they arnt expensive i just got charged for 2 intercoolers when i only bought one (paypal says 1, sales receipt says 1 shipping email is 1 but bank account got hit twice *shrug*) so im kinda tight right now lol

lol side note, just ran out to locate evap purge control valve lol your right cant miss it, RIGHT there bam sprung in your face lol

Yea, like i say you shouldnt be able to blow any air through any of those tubes. If you can, you need to replace that little sob. If that checks out, then its the solenoid itself and your in for a job.

Mine went bad on my 96, i was going to fix it but i just decided to uh, evade the law ill say. They arnt cheap though if you buy them new from the dealer. That cheap a$$ little peice was just a bit over 75 bucks at my local nissan dealer. Your best bet to get one is to post a thread in the WTB section and wait for a bit, someone parting out a s14 should have one.

Well the evap system gets rid of fuel vapors(hydro carbons, bad stuff) in your gas tank by putting them through a carbon canister and dumping that out into the atmosphere at different times. Its really not going to do much, other than pollute more than it should when you go to fill up.

If its the control valve thats bad you could replace it for pretty cheap if you get a used one. You at least owe it to your car to do that simple little check to see if you could fix it by just replacing that valve.

If its stuck open it actually might be a killer to idle and low load MPG. Normally when your at those 2 points, the Evap system isnt working. If its stuck open, theres a possibility that the valve is pulling vacuum from your engine when it shouldnt be, causing your car to run a TINY bit less efficiently.

The main thing its going to do is piss you off, with a bright red CEL in your face every day.
