P1448 - Not a typical enquiry

Hi

New to the forum with a bit of an odd request. Car in question is a 2002 Pathfinder

Roughly 8 months ago i got a P1447 code, Vent valve stuck closed. When i took it to the garage the cost to fix was too much for me to afford but i needed an e missions test. So the garage had an idea to 'cheat the system'. This returned a P1448 code.

Fast forward to now when I can afford a new canister and valve, I have installed them myself (as its really not that difficult). However, whatever the garage did still returns a P1448.

I have checked for 12v on the solenoid (which there is). I figure when the ECM runs the EVAP test the solenoid isn't grounding, throwing up the vent valve open code.

Any ideas where to look for this somewhat dodgy work around? I would go to the garage, but they are no longer open.

On a side note, I cant seem to access the service manual to check to see if that has any hints.

With any "open" code where the component check out . Make sure the wires are not damaged -- the canister harness is very tight. The wires at the plug to the main harness on the body can be damaged,
