Hey guys i just recently bought a 1996 nissan 240sx with a stock KA with almost 85k miles...i almost got all the bugs worked out, the only engine code i'm showing now is a "P1445 evap canister purge control valve"....on the obd2 reader it comes up as "vehicle auxiliary emmisions control" ..... has anyone ran across this code and know exactly how to fix it? i called the nissan dealership and they actually helped me out and told me what to look for, my friends told me it could as simple as a gas cap...i tried it....wished it worked.....i'm just tryin to fix it without havin to order the part from the dealership if possible, well thanks guys let me know if anyone got any ideas.

check the purge control valve , could be plugged w/ debris from canister w/c might have broken down already, remove the canister & inspect the internals, & inspect the screen at the end of the canister vent valve hose, common problem is , it has spider or web inside, restricting the vent outlet. If the canister has broken down inside, chances are there are debris also at the lines, so u have to clean the lines if u gonna replace the canister.

thanks man that helps alot, the dealership told me it was the black box to the right of the gas tank......so i'll just get under there and clean it out....hey its definitely worth a shot.....i'm not sure if the dealership actually looked up the part or not, i was on the phone with them, but they claim it costs like $60 or so and they would have to order it, but yeah i'll give it a shot couldn't hurt, now as far as the hoses go i would have to dissconnect all of them to clean em out i assume....well thanks for the help, i should post pics soon.

remove the black canister first & inspect it, if there are debris or pellets coming out, it's no good, u have to change it, then clean the lines from the canister to the engine. Don't replace the purge control valve yet, it's not easy to replace this. Compressed air to purge the lines is a good way to clean it. Erase the code & drive it, see if the code comes back. Normally we replace the purge control valve too to make sure, they superceded the part already(better design?). I just replaced one yesterday, I have to disassemble it to remove it under the intake phlenum, then diassemble again the new purge valve to install it. It won't come out under the phlenum. I have to remove the upper radiator hose to make room.

ok i got up under there and took the box off....now my problem is how do i open the canister w/o breaking i gave it a couple a tries and i thought i was gonna break it so i left it alone....the good news is i didn't hear any rattling in the canister.....so i put it all back together and went to the dealership and found out theres like 6 or 7 different sensors and canisters that i can check or replace to see if thats the problem...and of course there expensive.....i have a newb question but i'm pretty sure if u remove all the emissions then that check engine light will forever be on.....if anyone has removed there emissions system let me know if its worth doin and how hard it is to do....thanks

if the canister looks ok, the next step is to test the purge control valve w/c is very technical already, the only thing u can do is replaced it. It's located in between the intake manifold & phlenum, it's an aluminum valve w/ 2 small hose attachment w/ a connector. I f u look on top of the intake manifold on the middle, u will see it's bolted below. Good luck.
