Tighten gas cap, otherwise buy a new OEM gas cap to start with.

yeah, thats what im thinking. Getting the code reader was pretty interesting, there were terms like "short term" and "long term" fuel trim, and things like that i never came across.

there is that one recal for qx4's, about the rusting of the fuel filler tube, if it rusts a small hole, that could cause a vacuum leak too yea?

well, i thought it was a leak in the lines as any loss vacuum when the ecu tests it would have triggered the code. Just in case, i cleaned the cap threads and the filler hole and reset the code with my scanner. The code never popped upped again. I recommend you do the same before spending money on the gas cap

too late :p i think i was due for a new one anyways as when i looked at my old cap it looked pretty beat up. And i shoulda clued in when i stopped hearing the hissing noise when i opened the cap.

32.51 after taxes. i gues its alright, onlines its like 12.99 + shipping and didnt have that stringy thingy that keeps the lid from rolling under your car and into a storm drain never to be seen again leaving you standing there at the pump with your thumb up your bum screaming FUUUUUUUUUU : )

turns out this problem wasnt one to ignore, when i pull out the evap lines in the engine bay, it's infested with charcoal bits. now i need to replace the evap canister i think, and maybe a new valve. Anybody done this before?

And i just got the DMV papers today, i need a smog check so i gotta fix it before the 26th
