I received a MIL. I went to Autozone and they printed it up as a P1140. I looked this code up in the FSM made available on this site (thank you, guys.) I ran through the ohm out and voltage tests that the manual recommended but really couldn't say that there was an issue with the sensor or the wiring. The sensor ohm'd out correctly and the voltages supplied seemed correct. I didn't get into the part of the procedure where you check the ECM because I just figured the sensor is the most likely suspect, using Occam's razor. I called my local stealership and they wanted $232 for the part. I searched online and found the same part number, listed as a Nissan part, and listed as a "Crankshaft Sensor," available for $87.00 on Amazon. I ordered that, received it in 2 days, and just installed it. My code has not cleared, immediately, but the drive I just took tells me that this seems like a fix. Does anyone know if the code might just take a few drive cycles to clear? I realize I could just wait and see but I'm not going to be driving much for the next couple of days and can't stand the suspense. :mike I don't want to unhook the battery because I'm too lazy to reset all my stereo presets and other stereo settings.

You can just have the autozone guy clear it for you...unless they aren't cool like that. Either way you'll have to do drive cycles to clear it or drive cycles to redo the tests (once cleared) to see if it comes back.

Forgot to update this. It did clear after a couple of drive cycles.

Thanks for the update. I somehow missed this, but yep. Nissans typically take quite some time for the codes to clear. And just like you, I prefer to not clear the codes after most repairs, if the car is running right.

Might you remember the part number you ended up purchasing/ cross referencing?

I have the box at home. I'll get it for you later today.
