This is for a 01 Qx4, first off my CEL bulb is pulled form the back of the cluster, by the previous owner, of course I didnt know that when I bought the car. Well i eventually just cause I like to pick at my cars bought a code reader, and got a bunch of codes, all of which were addressed when I could afford them, and the last 2 on the list were 1140/1145, and I changed the VTC sensor on each bank, both CELS gone.

SO I still dont have a CEL bulb in there, but I plugged my scanner in last night, and I got a P1110!!

Just drove the car to the nissan dealership, died once on me, started it back up and it felt pretty s***ty, I pulled the code when I got to the dealership.

P1110- Intake Valve Timing Control, LH Bank

I also had a code P0335 before I mistakenly errased them. But it hasnt returned

Thanks for any help, much appreciated

My car also dies on random slow turns and during some hard braking. SO I cleared the codes before going for a drive, and after the car died, I threw the scanner on it, and P1110 was up

I am unaware as to what part I would need to bu to fix P1110. I cant find any information on that code form this site and the FSM procedure on this code involves almost every sensor on the engine lol.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

I recently threw a scanner on my car (because the original owner was a d!ck and pulled the check engine bulb) and I got a P1140/1145 code. Ok no biggie did the research on here, common problem, replaced both sensors on the front of the motor and the code went away.

Last last week. My car started running TERRIBLE, it has to crank quite a bit extra to start, and I even had it die while coming to a spirited stop or while taking turns Ive even had it die on me. It seems to be idling 150-200rpm lower and the engine sometimes shutters because of this, giving it some gas and raising the rpms to 1000 made the engine run smooth as a kitten...

SO I throw the scanner on it and I get

P1110- Intake Valve Timing Control, LH BankP0335- Crankshaft position sensor

Cleared them, went for a drive (still was hard to start) the car ended up dying somewhere in the drive and thats when the P1110 code came back on , the crankshaft sensor CEL has yet to return (maybe 80miles driving so far this week)

But I cannot drive the car as it is other than to get to and from work, as the car shuts off sometimes randomly, it puts you in a very crappy situation with no power steering!!! Putting it in nuetral and cranking while rolling works though......

I did some searching on here for the last hour but was unable to come to any comclusions as to what the fix would be, what parts could be the culprit, and even a part number, alot of the links were broken or expired.

Any help would be appreciated, as this is kinda dangerous to drive, and I dont have the money to just start shotgunning parts at this rig.

Thanks guys

Hey sorry to hear of all the issues and even more sorry for me not being able to help out, but you should take it and at least get it checked out if it is dangerous, you wouldnt want to risk what is important to you.

Even if you take it in and at least get a better understanding of what the issue maybe would probably save you more in the end.

For example, if you take it to a shop and they find out what the problem is and you know how to fix it, then you can fix and save yourself some $$

Sorry if I was of absolutely no help

Any help is good help, the closest infinity dealership to me is about 30 min away though.

I really just cant find any info on what PART going bad causes P1110. I know its related to the P1140 and P1145 that I just fixed, but cant find any info, let alone a part number or anything...

Little more backround info I gatherred today. I clear the code before starting the car, keep the scanner attached to the car, turn the car on, no codes, the P1110 does not reoccur until about after 7-10min of driving through the city. And the few times it did occur, there was no power loss or stalling motor like mentionned before.

If that helps

A good start would be to clean up, lube and tighten the MAF and CAS pins and their connectors. All your codes tie into these two major components. Since you replaced a couple of solenoids check those connector pins for tightness also. Is there green corrosion on any of these connectors?

What is the CAS? I did infact clean the MAf connector, which looked perfectly clean on both inside and outside already though.

I really would LOVE to get this problem diagnosed very soon, as the car randomly turning off is NOT a great deal of fun lol

Goody' wasn't talking about the MAF sensor, he was referencing the MAF connector. Unplug the the MAF connector and inspect it to ensure there is nothing in the connector that can cause a faulty reading. Then take a small tool like a scribe and slightly pinch down the female wire terminals to make solid contact with the male terminal.

As far as the CAS is concerned, I think that is the Cam Angle sensor. Unfortunately I cannot provide any info on this as I do not have any experience with that piece.

Well sir I didnt say anything about the maf sensor and said I cleaned the connector itself lol

Car didnt die on me at all today though, ran rather well actually ONCE started (still cranks for quite some time at first in the morning, and for an extra second or two during the day)

Theres a sticky for P1145/P1140 on the top of this forum, you need to replace most likely the VTC sensors ($60 each online)

You also kind of creeped me out, your name is KevinQx4, and you have a 2001 infinity qx4. My name is kevin, and I have a 2001 Qx4. Your from HAMilton Ontario, Im from Milton Ontario.

Now THAT is a freaky coincidence
