p10 5th gear popping out

i have a 91 and the 5th gear keeps popping out. after i put in a transmission from a 94? same thing. is that the common problem? what other cars can i grab a transmission off of to replace with?

Some 94 models fixed the issue but they had to be late 94 model cars. If you can find one from a 95-97 200sx se-r, you won't have any more problems.

that's cool.. so what really is the problem with the trannies though?

anyways, i took apart my OLD transmission and found the 5th gear synchro is worn, but not completely distroyed.. there's 18 tooth on it, in sets of 6's. each 2 outside teeth of the six are worn a bit.. i wish i could post up a picture, but i have no way to host. the 5th gear's syncro (looking) teeth are also a bit worn too

other than that, i think my buddy cracked my 5th gear shift fork also, there was a piece lodged on the gear selector

The fork is the may issue.

that peice i found broken off the 5th shifter fork, looks freshly broken. otherwise it woulda been ground to bits from tumbling around in the transmission.

i am absolutely sure that's not the case though. the transmission was coming outta 5th to begin with, then my buddy fudged up the whole transmission and i only had reverse just before i did the swap. the piece from the fork got lodged in the gear selector so it won't shift into any gear besides reverse.

anyways, i swapped in a new transmission, and it still pops outta 5th!!!

200sx se-r transmission will fix the issue without a doubt.
