My car failed inspection today with a P0507 code. My check engine light was off and on. I looked into it and i found it is the idle speed, so i performed and Idle Air Volume Learning to see if that would fix it but im not sure if i did it right. My 04 pathfinder is idling at about 500 rpm, i think, the problem with that is my rpm meter is all messed up for some reason because when i was installing leds in my dash i hit it by accident and moved it. I put in a k&n air intake like 6 months ago maybe that could of caused it and also i cleaned my maf sensor multiple times too and my throttle body. Any thoughts? i have 60 days to get this fixed

Is P0507 the only engine code currently?

Check for intake air leaks. Make sure all the intake plumbing is solidly secured. Spray some brake cleaner or starting fluid around at connection points for the plumbing to see if idle increases suddenly, pointing towards a leak. If there are no leaks, do you still have the stock intake hardware to test with?

The PCV system is also a possible culprit, but the PCV valve on our engines is buried under the upper and lower intake manifold collectors, so it is a rather laborious process to change a $13 valve. But this may be necessary if stock intake hardware does not resolve the issue.

Yes p0507 is the only code. Could the relearning my idel air volume fix it? I read that it could but the problem im having is there is a step that says after holding the accelerator down for 20 seconds the service engine light will blink, but that doesnt happend for me. i followed the steps from here: p0507-code-t475472.html

Also, on my k&n intake, there was an extra vacumm line hole that my car didnt have a line to put in. I talked to others with k&n's and nissans and they said they had the same problem so they found a screw that filled the hole, so i did the same. Maybe this is not tight enough or something and causing a leak. So i need to spray started fluid into the filter and if the rpm jumps there is a leak?

See the steps on page EC-73 for the steps on idle air relearn. May as well do the other relearns too on the page.

Take a picture of the vacuum line so I can try to figure out exactly which line it is.

Don't spray it into the filter; spray any connection points (i.e. hose clamps, etc) and around the throttle body to see if RPMs jump.

For some reason the idle air volume learning will not work. I warm my car up to running temp and try it and the step where the check engine light should be blinking, it does not. I did both the throttle and the accelerator learnings before also. What am i doing wrong?? Also i check the intake for leaks and there did not seem to be any even where i have my screw. i will update with pictures soon. Thanks for the help

Do you have an ODBII scan tool to verify engine coolant temperature?

I don't know what to suggest regarding the relearn procedure as I've never done it. Just keep trying I guess. :gotme

The FSM says the coolant temp should be in the specified range. It's easy to check that using a scan tool, and all the other prerequisites are fairly simple to check.
