Can't seem to find this leak... I changed the gas cap & smoked the vac lines via brake booster line to intake... Charcoal canister is not clogged... Only large leak that I found was 2 cracks in the air duct from Air filter to throttle body... reset codes last night & praying CEL doesn't return... Any ideas??? 2001 QX4

I know how frustrating this code can be.
I've been through it many times. I had to deal with it again last, and this, week.
Sad thing is, in the grand scheme of things, it has no effect on how the truck actually runs. That's the frustrating part.
Where I live though (Ontario, Canada), you cannot have this code stored in your ECM if you want or need to pass emissions testing.
I have had this code for at least 5 years, and have been able to pass emissions by clearing the code.
In my case, it usually doesn't come back for a few 100 kms of driving, which is just long enough to pass the test.
I had to have my truck tested again this month (for my plate renewal), so I cleared the codes last week.
Unfortunately, I also had an oxygen sensor code, so I failed the test.
I replaced the O2 sensor on Thursday of last week, and reset the codes again.
Drove it a little bit this weekend with no check engine light on, and then had it retested today. It passed.
I can guaranty that the engine light will come on again in a few days.
I have two years ahead of me with no worries though, so I am not going to bother trying to find the problem.
It is not worth spending the time or money to eliminate this stupid code. Nissan's evap systems suck.
I also don't plan to be driving this thing in two years, so I don't really care.
My truck has been great, and I still like it, but it is starting to break down.
I had to replace a leaking (rusted) brake line recently, as well as a leaking rear wheel cylinder.
It needs other work too, and I just can't justify the expense. I'll be saying goodbye to the old girl sometime this summer.

Unfortunately I have to pass emissions tests by the end of this month for renewal of plates... & clearing the codes is not a cure all here... If they don't get a read on all systems.. they fail you...

I have checked & replaced the Vent valve, purge solenoid & gas cap... My gas filler neck can't be rusted just yet.. it was just replaced 2 years ago with the recall... This code is killing me.. I have smoked the system & can't find any leaks.. :wtf2:

The filler neck may not be rusted, but there are vent hose connections there as well. Probably need to pull the cover off and check all the hoses/hose connections under there.

I have modified my DIY smoker to give me more pressure & more smoke... I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT!!! There is a 2nd solenoid in the rear before the Vent valve(Dorman Canister Vent Valve Solenoid part# 911-510) ... IT is located above the rear axle next to the white shut off valve(Dorman Canister Purge Valve part# 911-508 ) Now if it would stop raining... :mike :mike :mike

Congratulations!

How did you modify your smoke machine to increase pressure and smoke output?

I love seeing a happy ending.

Which part was actually leaking? The solenoid, the hose that goes to it?

I modified it so I can attach a bicycle pump to it.. I couple of pumps and I had smoke..

The solenoid above the rear axle(Dorman 911-510 ) was broken in 1/2 from rust.. My under the hood purge solenoid was defective also.. but that was known & replaced before this discovery.. I had O2 Sensor codes also. Sensor 2 on banks 1 & 2.. But those were easily diagnosed & replaced..
