I know how frustrating this code can be.
I've been through it many times. I had to deal with it again last, and this, week.
Sad thing is, in the grand scheme of things, it has no effect on how the truck actually runs. That's the frustrating part.
Where I live though (Ontario, Canada), you cannot have this code stored in your ECM if you want or need to pass emissions testing.
I have had this code for at least 5 years, and have been able to pass emissions by clearing the code.
In my case, it usually doesn't come back for a few 100 kms of driving, which is just long enough to pass the test.
I had to have my truck tested again this month (for my plate renewal), so I cleared the codes last week.
Unfortunately, I also had an oxygen sensor code, so I failed the test.
I replaced the O2 sensor on Thursday of last week, and reset the codes again.
Drove it a little bit this weekend with no check engine light on, and then had it retested today. It passed.
I can guaranty that the engine light will come on again in a few days.
I have two years ahead of me with no worries though, so I am not going to bother trying to find the problem.
It is not worth spending the time or money to eliminate this stupid code. Nissan's evap systems suck.
I also don't plan to be driving this thing in two years, so I don't really care.
My truck has been great, and I still like it, but it is starting to break down.
I had to replace a leaking (rusted) brake line recently, as well as a leaking rear wheel cylinder.
It needs other work too, and I just can't justify the expense. I'll be saying goodbye to the old girl sometime this summer.
