A couple months ago the code P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak) came up then after a few weeks it turned into P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak). I replaced the gas cap and checked all the EVAP lines and couldn't find any leak. If anyone has any other suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

If you already replaced the gas cap and took that out of the equation it is most likely gonna be your vent solenoid that's leaking. Whenever I replace a vent solenoid for a customer I always replace the canister as well because if your vents stuck open it will suck alot of dust and debris into the canister and then cause the new vent to fail much faster.

I checked the vent solenoid by hooking it up to the battery and it opened and closed properly. Could that still be the problem even though it opens and closes?

i got that code twice in the last 6 years, i usually just reset it (erase it) and forget about it.

Let me know if that works for you.

It could still have blockage that's not allowing it to fully close. But like the guy above said you could see if the code does not return after you clear it. Evap dtc's do not affect performance or efficiency in any way.

Yeah, clear the code first.
And the valve might be ok, but the canister itself might be cracked.
