Post

Hello,
2006 M-35 with 79,000 miles just acquired a P0455 engine code. Last Sunday AM we gassed up and departed from an area never visited before. It was right after that the light was noticed, but the previous evening it was pitch black leaving a venue and there was more attention paid to seeing the narrow road and getting to a hotel, so the code may have appeared then, but it would have seemingly been noticed in the dark car.??!
This AM. the car was taken to Autozone where they read the code and gave me the prinout. Yegads!
So, the forum search showed me a few good pointers to start with and started with a gas refill and making sure the cap was on ok.
A) The code is still apparent after fueling up and being driven around 15 miles. Can anyone tell me how to reset the code to see if that was the issue?
B) I have the 2006 M-35 FSM that was placed on line here a few years ago, however it doesn't appear to have any Emissions Section. Is there a data file that can be accessed on this site?

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

you can also pick up an OBDII scanner...I have one that I use from time to time. It reads DTCs (codes) as well as clears them... I got mine at Pepboys for about $40... not too pricey and it does the job. I've used it on several vehicles...works great.

Two spots to check - can take it to a "emissions - inspection" to use their "sniffer." Check pressure regulator on the passenger side of the engine - check all hoses for leaks, cracks, bends.

The connection to the FUEL line - not evap - near passenger side wheel under the car.

Before taking it to the sniffer - park car, and at idle take off the gas cap. Wait for code to come on, or flash, turn car off - replace gas cap. Disconnect battery, and press brake to drain residual power. Connect battery, start car and see if that kills the code.

I'd like to report that after installing a new factory gas cap, the SES light remained off after the initial start-up check. It's hard to believe, as I compared caps and there were no obvious differences.

thanks to all!

good to hear.... just be mindful during your trips to the gas station - after filling up - that the gas cap is put on nice and snug :dblthumb:

....those check engine lights are more of a pain in the @ss and annoying
