i have a 2002 nissan pathfinder.
i was driving my car for about 2 months with a bad fuel pump gasket. when i went to fill up the tank with gasoline there was no pressure when i opened the gas cap and you can smell the gasoline when i finished filling the car up. i finally got around to replace the gasket but now codes p0420 p0430 keeps popping up every few days . im thinking that while the fuel system was not pressurized too much fuel got to the exhaust . i think i just need a cleaner like seafoam? would seafoam clean this out or do i need another cleaner? has anyone had this problem?

throw a bottle in the tank and a third through the Vaccum line and see how it goes.

A V engine has 2 sides and both sides after the O2 sensor are indicating a less than normal cat converter.

What is the total miles on the car?

You may need to test you O2 sensors before you throw in the towel on that P0420-P0430 indication

Remember cat converters never die a natural death they are always murdered and you may be guilty of Pathyside.

Examine how you fuel is being burned.

I have a 2002 QX4. Kept throwing the codes for O2 sensors both sides before and after cat. Happened mostly after fill ups. Found that if I shut off engine before opening the gas cap door it prevented the attendant from unscrewing the cap before shutting off. Also found that using premium for a tank full or 2 speed up the light going off. Also tried using fuel system cleaner the first couple of times it happened. Haven't replaced an O2 since, just keep the door closed until the engines off and the light generally goes off in a couple of days.
