Hello, i have recently had the check engine soon light come on, i went to autozone and they gave me the code p0420, next i went to amaco where they told me that my cataylic converter bank 1 needed to be replaced. Right now i am trying to figure out what is the best solution for my problem. Some people have different views as to what i should do, some say i should buy a cat converter from online and replace it, some say i should buy a header and replace the cat. Is their anyone with this problem, if you do can you tell me what have you done to fix this problem. Thank you

Replacing the catalytic converter alone should fix your issue.

Check out the Altima forum, altima-forum.html

Just doing a quick search this seems to be a prevalent problem on the Altima. Search p0420

Note that there is a federally mandated 8 year/80K mile warranty on catalytic converters. If it fails before then Nissan must replace it before then.
