Problem is fixed. i did not buy OEM nissan part because it's Xmas and i need the car. so i opt for Autozone Duralast Made in USA with 2 years warranty. this cost about 60 bucks. you want to make sure you get the straight sensor, not the angle one. My wonderful autozone rep gave me the wrong one which cost me another trip back for the right sensor.
anyway, here you go. thanks to the internet, i found tons of information on this issue. apparently Nissan/Infiniti are notorious for this issue. OEM part at my nissan dealer cost round 89 bucks while at infiniti dealer cost 90$.
these are not my pictures because i didn't have time to take any. It's cold and i just want to be done with it. however this author took several pictures that are very good.
nissan sensor part
passenger sensor plug - it's at the back of the engine by the battery. you can't miss it. it's bright green
this is a very good reference for you to read up. there are more in the g35, z350 forums. just search "nissan infiniti p0340 camshaft position sensor bank 1" and you'll get some very good source.
