What could cause this error? Is an aftermarket air filter(f.ex. K&N) enough for this or is the MAF sensor that is broken?

- Dirty mass air flow sensor, may need cleaning
- Dirty mass air filter, if there is one, when plugged the ratio changes
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted, this could be your problem. It will take patience and persistence
- Mass air flow sensor electrical circuit poor connection, like the previous one but any connector may be corroded
- Intake air leaks plays havoc with ratios
- Faulty mass air flow sensor, age, neglect.

Changing the air conduit alters the mass of air to the sensor and may cause the ratios to indicate wrong thus a code.
